Nepal is known as the Mekka for Trekking. One of the famoust regions is the Mt. Everest (Khumbu) region. I joined a 2 week (Teahouse) Trekking Tour to Mt. Everest Basecamp. First I flew with Qatar Airways from Frankfurt via Doha to Kathmandu. The next morning we flew with Yeti Airlines to Lukla, one of most dangerous airports in the world. Just 2 weeks earlier a little Twin Otter crashed with a group from the same company with the same tour- everything just 2 weeks earlier… uff. Well the flight with the little airplane went well and the airport is interesting ;). Short steep runway. 14 day trekking ahead. From Lukla via Namche Bazar, Thame, Khunde, Tengboche, Dingboche and Gorak Shep we hiked to 5400m and back about 200km distance! Amazing tour to a very distant and also poor area of the world.
