After the hiking „warm up“ some weeks ago this time I went with two friends to the Silvretta area in Austria. On the very top of the „Silvretta Hochalpstraße“ (a street that goes up to 2000m) is the Silvretta Lake. A very nice area to go hiking. I booked a room in a little hut for a night called Madlenerhaus just a little down the road from the lake. Very good choice. Good food, easy to reach by car and nice hosts.
On the same day we went hiking to the Wiesbadener Hütte at 2443m. One way is about 9km but easy to walk. From the hut you have a great view of the Silvretta Glacier and Piz Buin. In the afternoon we hiked back down back to the Madlenerhaus.
Although very tired I took my tripod to take some pictures of the night sky. The view of the milky way was amazing.
The next morning I took some more shots at the Silvretta Lake before having a great breakfast. With the car we drove a little downhill to the Vermunt Lake. In 2,5 hours we hiked the 800mtrs up to the Saarbrücker Hütte (2538m) from where you have a great view to the Seehorn and Großlitzer. You could see people climbing the mountains and walking on the glaciers. The weather was amazing in the morning but later the day it got cloudy. Still I got sunburn 😉
