End of November is low Season in Mallorca – flights and rental cars are cheap but many places are closed – the typical tourist destinations are totally deserted. It is like driving through ghost towns in some cases. Still the island has its charme. The weather is much nicer than in Germany (even if it is raining) and the tourist spots are not overrun and the beaches are super empty.
Our journey to Mallorca did not exactly go as planned. The flight was supposed to depart from Memmingen, but due to heavy fog the incoming plane was diverted to Nurnberg. Instead of a 2hrs flight there was a 3hrs bus drive to Nurnberg, another check-in and finally the 2hrs flight. We arrived 5hrs late at 3 am. Of course the rental cars were all closed so we could not reach our holiday home on the other side of the island. Instead we took a taxi to a nearby hotel – slept for 4 hours – had breakfast and went back to the airport to get the rental car…
But other than that the trip was great. We did some nice tours into the Tramuntana Moutains with the car (a lot of 180deg curves) and to Formentor peninsula. Also we enjoyed the beaches of the bay of Alcudia that were super empty. We can tell from the parking lots that they must be packed in summer. The old town of Alcudia was also nice. We had a great week.
Here are some impressions.
